The “G” in G&E represents Gaia, the Earth Goddess who nurtures all living things, while the “E” symbolizes Eternity, embodying the principle of continuous, everlasting life. The inspiration began with Professor Kuo Kuo-Hua, who served 23 years at Kaohsiung Medical University. Through decades of research, he realized that the cures for many diseases that humans struggle with may already exist in nature. With this understanding, he resolved to apply pioneering biotechnology and drug development techniques—integrating the characteristics of plants with mechanisms of human cellular gene regulation. Grounded in scientific research theories and leveraging the therapeutic advantages of natural plants, G&E develops high-quality and effective natural health supplements, skincare products, and botanical medicines. Using the Earth’s natural resources to sustain human health, G&E aims to gradually evolve into Taiwan’s unique professional botanical pharmaceutical company.

In 2001, a simple official letter from the Department of Chinese Medicine & Pharmacy invited Professor Kuo from Kaohsiung Medical University to present his U.S. anti-cancer drug patent at a press conference. Through this, he encountered many cancer patients and deeply felt their pain and helplessness. This awakened his compassion and strengthened his desire to help the world, inspiring him to leave the stability of academia and embark on the path of developing new cancer treatments. Although the journey of new drug development is extremely challenging, he never backed down, for he knew he was undertaking a mission of great significance. After many years of research, he gained profound and unique insights into cancer cell mechanisms and gene regulation. He understood that cancer cannot be fought “head-on,” or the patient’s body would ultimately suffer. This realization led him to turn to “the natural plant resources nurtured by the Earth” as his starting point—seeking plant-derived compounds capable of fighting cancer cells. Through gene-regulation techniques, he aimed to alter the stubborn characteristics of cancer cells, weakening them. Scientific extraction and purification methods were then used to isolate active plant components and quantify them with Western-medicine precision. With the groundbreaking concept of “selectively killing cancer cells without harming normal cells,” he began developing an entirely new category of botanical cancer therapeutics. Throughout this process, seeing his research benefit many cancer patients deeply encouraged him, further solidifying his lifelong commitment to botanical new drug development—to safeguard human health and bring hope to those suffering from cancer.

The development of the new drug involved collaboration with multiple clinical physicians. Not only has it obtained pharmaceutical invention patents in 32 countries worldwide, but the research findings have also been published in numerous international scientific journals. These results demonstrate strong potential in cancer treatment without harming normal cells. Furthermore, the treatment does not affect the hematopoietic or immune systems, nor does it produce the side effects typically associated with chemotherapy—marking a significant breakthrough in the history of cancer therapy.

Driven by a mission to save lives, Professor Kuo spares no effort in developing high-quality and effective plant-based products to help those in need. He developed Hepanamin®—a product that addresses previously difficult-to-treat liver, gallbladder, and kidney diseases. He further extended purified plant extracts into health supplements (Antila®), skincare products (GlitEr®), supportive nutritional products for cancer patients, anti-inflammatory formulas, vision-support supplements, immunity-regulating products, and more. These patented plant-based skincare ingredients have received both Taiwanese and international invention patents. By combining Taiwan’s agricultural strengths with G&E’s unique botanical drug development technology, the company not only benefits farmers and improves agricultural policy, but also promotes high-value crop cultivation and enhances farmland utilization. G&E continues to make contributions not only to human disease treatment but also to the improvement of human living environments and overall health.
